At approximately 0122 hours Officers condcuting pro active patrol of closed local businesses along the Madison Corridor observed a tan Lexus 4 door sedan driving in the parking lot of the Murrieta Kohl's. The vehicle exited the shopping center and turned west on Kalmia Street. A records check of the vehicle license plate showed the vehicle was registered in Hemet. Because all of the businesses in the shopping center were closed, the vehicle was registered in Hemet, and it was turning in a direction away from Hemet, Officers conducted an investigative traffic stop of the vehicle on Kalmia Street at Jefferson Avenue. Officers contacted the driver identified as Sergio Enrique Muniz Gaspar by his Mexico Driver License and U.S. border crossing Visa. A records check of Gaspar revealed he had an outstanding felony warrant with a bail of $100,000 for Poseesion of Drugs for Sale and Transportation of Drugs. Gaspar was taken into custody for the warrant and transported to SWDC for booking. During nightime patrols Murrieta officers are very proactive in looking for suspicous activity all over the City of Murrieta. They often conduct investigative stops on suspicous pedestrians and vehicles. Many times these stops prevent a crime from occurring and a business or residence from being victimized. The stops also lead to the identification and many times arrests of individuals for warrants or other crimes.
