Building Code Programs

Building Code Enforcement Program

This program provides building, structural, electrical, mechanical and plumbing inspections for unpermitted projects. Assistance is provided to the Police Department in structure related code enforcement. Functions include issuing stop work notices, correction notices and citations when needed for illegal or unpermitted work.

Inspections Program

The inspections program provides structural, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, energy and accessibility inspections for permitted projects to assure compliance with all applicable codes and ordinances. State law requires inspectors be certified. The Murrieta building staff holds 32 certificates.

Plan Review Program

The plan review program provides plan review services for residential, commercial, industrial and tenant improvements. This includes all over the counter, in-house and consultant reviews to assure proposed structure complies with applicable codes and ordinances.

Public Information & Permit Processing Program

This program provides all customers (residents, developers, builders, architects and engineers) with fast, fair and friendly counter services. The division takes building permit applications and plan-check submittals, does over-the-counter plan reviews for minor projects and coordinates with other city departments in the application and permitting process.
