CITY PLANS MORE DOWNTOWN IMPROVEMENTS

The city has laid out an ambitious plan to build about $47 million in downtown infrastructure over the next few years.  The work follows completion of another $9 million invested on Washington Avenue reconstruction and the Ivy Street storm drain.

Among projects planned:

  • Widening of Adams, Ivy and Plum and improvements to Juniper and C Streets.
  • Resurfacing of First and Second Avenues as well as A, B and C Streets.
  • Installation of a sanitary sewer network throughout the downtown and of storm sewer trunk lines in the western area.
  • Development of a neighborhood park along Second Avenue, including a replica of Murrieta's second school house.
  • Construction of the Ivy Street bridge across Murrieta Creek.
  • Completion of Town Square development, including city hall and private office buildings.
