How do I report a leaky fire hydrant?

A submittal form.

How much are the plan submittal fees?
It is best to call the Fire Department Prevention Division at 951-304-FIRE(3473) to get accurate fees for your specific project.

How many sets of plans are required?

A minimum of 3 sets are required



Can the plans be mailed in?
Yes, with all documentation and the appropriate fee.

What is the plan check turnaround time?
Three weeks are allowed; however, 2 weeks usually.

How do you notify me when the plans are done?
A letter is faxed to the number given on the submittal form. 

What fire sprinkler inspections are required?
Weld, Rough, Hydro, Flush.

How do I schedule an inspection?

Call the Fire Prevention Coordinator, Terri Aylward, at 951-461-6151 or 951-304-FIRE (3473), Monday - Thursday, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.



What are the inspection days and time frames?
Inspections are scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays only. Morning block is 7 - 11 a.m. and afternoon block is 1 - 4 p.m.

How soon can I get an inspection?
An inspection can be scheduled a minimum of 48 hours in advance.

Do I need an appointment for an over the counter plan check?
Yes. 

What type of plans are typically plan checked over the counter?
Minor structural plans typically sent over by the Building Department. Also minor alarm tenant improvements and minor sprinkler tenant improvements with the approval of the plan checker.

Do I need to provide batteries for the smoke detectors?
Residents are asked to assist in providing high quality 9V batteries (one for each detector in the home).

How do I schedule a battery change for my smoke detector?
The Murrieta Fire Deparment Smoke Detector Program is designed to assist residents 55 and better maintain smoke detectors in good working order by replacing the batteries on a regular basis.  To make an appointment, please call the Fire Administration office at 951 304-FIRE (3473) during normal business hours 7 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday to make a Friday appointment.

What if my smoke detector is beeping?

Call the Fire Administration office at 951-304-FIRE (3473) during normal business hours 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday - Thursday and a Fire Engine crew will be scheduled to come out the same afternoon between 1 - 5 p.m.



How often do the firemen come out for battery changes?

Battery change appointments are scheduled for Fridays 1-5 p.m.



How do I schedule a tour of a Fire Station?

Call the Fire Administration Office at 951-304-FIRE (3473) during normal business hours 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday - Thursday (closed on Fridays).



How many people/children do you allow during a tour?

Group sizes of 30 people or less are preferred for station tours.



How do I request the Fire engine to come to home or place of business?

 Call Fire Administration at 951 304-FIRE(3473)



Can I schedule the Fire Engine to come to the house for my child's birthday?

Yes, by calling the Fire Administration office at 951 304-FIRE(3473) during normal business hours 7 am - 5:30 pm Monday-Thursday.



Do you offer CPR and First Aid classes?
Yes.

Through Parks and Recreation at 951 304-PARK(7275) or register online.

What is the cost of the CPR & First Aid Class?

$45 for CPR and $30 for First Aid



Where are the CPR and/or First Aid Classes held?

Fire Station 4 located at 28155 Baxter Road.



How often are CPR & First Aid classes offered?

The first Saturday of every month unless it falls on a holiday weekend.

Do I become part of a Team upon class completion?

No.  At this time the Murrieta Fire Department concentrates on citizen training.



Do I have to complete all three days of Course?
Yes, in order to receive the certificate of completion.

Do you have an Explorer Program?

How do I sign up for the Explorer Program?

Complete an interest form and return to the Fire Administration office, located at 41825 Juniper Street.



How often does the Explorer Program take on new recruits?

Every July for those who have turned in an interest form prior to June.



How do I get an incident/fire report?
Submit request containing date of incident and address to Fire Administration preferably by fax 951 677-6799

Is there a fee for an incident/fire report?
Yes, $22.00 payable to the City of Murrieta. 

How do I get a Firehouse Dinner Certificate?

Firehouse Dinner Certificates are issued to local (within City of Murrieta boundaries) non-profit organizations for fundraising purposes.  One certificate per group within a 12 month period.  Contact Fire Administration at 951 304-FIRE(3473)



I bid on a Firehouse dinner and won; how do I schedule the dinner at a firehouse?

Can I do community service at a Fire Station?
Annual Fire Dept. BBQ held in April.  Contact Fire Administration at 951 304-FIRE(3473).
