Upcoming Highway Closures

On two consecutive evenings in mid-January 2007, Interstate 215 will be closed in both directions from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am.

The bridge will be closed to pedestrian access for 5 days beginning January 15 through the 19th.

Drivers traveling on the Interstate-215 should follow the marked detours off the freeway or avoid the construction area all together. Weather or other circumstances could change this construction schedule unexpectedly.

Historic Downtown

Improvement Projects

There are 12 construction projects that will be occurring in the Historic Downtown. Some have already begun and they range from installing historic traffic signals (there is one already installed at Kalmia and Adams Avenues) to sewer and street widening.

The project locations center around the historic core streets along Ivy, Plum, Juniper and C Streets.

The project timeline (link to project schedule) is dependent upon many factors including weather, and unforeseen circumstances but may begin as early as 2007 and will take several years to complete.

All of the downtown projects including Town Square developments total approximately $47 million. When you add in the improvements that were done on Washington last year, it equals more than $50 million.
