The Skate Park at the California Oaks Sports Park was reopened May 2008 after a brief closure due to participant issues. Since then, the skate park has been revamped to provide a fun and safe environment for participants of all ages. A City employee is on-site at all times to ensure all participants entering the park are members and have the required equipment to ride in the skate park.
All participants will be required to complete a participation application. Minor participants will be required to a have parent and/or guardian complete and sign the application. All applications must be completed at the California Oaks Sports Park Skate Park. For fees, see below.
Skate Park Rules
All participants regardless of age are required to wear proper safety gear. At a minimum, this includes helmets, knee pads, and elbow pads. No Exceptions
Skate Park Pads Rule
Any person utilizing a public skate park facility must wear a helmet, elbow pads, and knee pads regardless of their age. All such gear must be functional, protective, properly sized, and designed for their intended use at the skate park facility. All pads must be worn over the participants clothing so the staff can ensure the pads are being worn. Any participant not wearing his/her protective pads correctly in the designated area, will not be able to utilize the skate park (ex. Elbow pads must be completely covering the elbow and not raised up to their bicep). An adult must supervise every person using the skate park facility who is under the age of fourteen. The director may set forth any other rules and regulations for the use of a public skate park facility which he/she deems appropriate, provided that signs describing such rules and regulations are placed and posted pursuant to Section 12.20.070. Hard plastic caps, for skateboard/scooter knee pads and elbow pads, offer the most impact and abrasion protection. All pads must have at least a 1/2" of an inch thickness of padding, and cannot be less than five inches in length (Jr. pads that are less than five inches in length are allowed for only Jr. participants). Pads must be properly secured within itself as well as to the skater's body according to manufacturing specifications. Skateboard/scooter pads may not be modified in any way. They must be properly fitting, which is determined by the skate park staff.
