On Friday July 17, 2009 at about 1600 hours, a male juvenile was robbed at gun point behind the Movie Experience on California Oaks Rd. The victim was not chosen randomly and he agreed to meet a known suspect at the location. The suspects knew the victim would be carrying a large amount of money during the meeting and approximately $270 was stolen.
During the robbery, the victim was struck several times throughout his body and several times on the head with a handgun. The suspects fled the scene in a gray sedan before police were called. The victim was transported to Inland Valley Medical Center where he was treated for bruising and a laceration to his head.
The Patrol Division investigated the initial report and worked with Special Enforcement Team Detectives (SET), who followed up on the case.
On Wednesday 07-22-09, SET Detectives arrested one male juvenile and three male adults for their involvement in the robbery. A search warrant was served in the 39500 block of Willowbend Drive and recovered a sawed off shotgun and ammunition. This shotgun is not suspected to have been used in the robbery.
All four suspects are Murrieta residents and were booked at the South West Juvenile Hall and the South West Detention Center for Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery and Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Two adults were also charged with Committing a Crime While out on Bail. Both subjects are out on bail for a Robbery arrest in June of 2009. |
