On Friday September 18, 2009 the Murrieta Police Department Juvenile Investigations Team along with an Investigator form the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) conducted a Minor Decoy Operation. The Minor Decoy Operation is funded by a California State grant that was awarded to the Murrieta Police Department.
The officers and teenage decoys visited 20 establishments that are licensed by the City of Murrieta to sell alcoholic beverages. Three clerks from different establishments sold alcoholic beverages to the minor decoys. The following establishments sold alcoholic beverages to minor decoys: El Gordito Restaurant, Peony’s Chinese Cuisine, and Jerseys Pizza.
The cited clerks will face misdemeanor criminal charges and the business owners will face possible administrative charges and fines administered by the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. The Murrieta Police Department will continue to conduct future minor decoy operations to discourage the sale of alcoholic beverages to minors.
