Incident Summary

Murrieta police officers responded to the Inland Valley Emergency Room regarding a 19 year old male gunshot victim who was transported to the hospital by friends.  The victim was shot in the neck with a small caliber bullet from close range and also had a broken jaw.  No vital organs were struck and the victim is expected to make a full recovery.

Preliminary investigation conducted by the responding officers and detectives determined the victim and several teenagers and young adults attended a house party in the 29000 block of Lynn Ct.  Several of the persons at the party had been drinking alcohol and were intoxicated.  During the party, the victim was confronted by the suspect for speaking to another female partygoer.  The suspect was angered by the victim's actions and asked the victim to go outside so they could talk.

Once outside, the suspect retrieved a handgun from inside his vehicle.  The suspect confronted the victim on the sidewalk area at the front of the home.  While holding the handgun, the suspect struck the victim in his face. The suspect then fired a single gunshot at the victim at close range striking him in his neck and grazing his artery.

The suspect fled the location and is wanted for questioning and is considered armed and dangerous.  The suspect is described as a male in his early 20's and is tall and thin.  Anyone with any additional information or who knows the suspect's identity is asked to call either Detective Andy Spagnolo at 951-461-6307 or Detective Phil Gomez at 951-461-6356.
