Incident Summary

On Friday March 5, 2010 the Murrieta Police Department Juvenile Investigations Team conducted a Minor Decoy Operation.  The Minor Decoy Operation is funded by a California State grant that was awarded to the Murrieta Police Department.

The officers and teenage decoys visited 20 establishments that are licensed by the City of Murrieta to sell/furnish alcoholic beverages.  Five clerks/waiters from different establishments sold/furnished alcoholic beverages to the minor decoys.  The following establishments sold/furnished alcoholic beverages to minor decoys:  Bellas Pizza Villa, Big Lots, Brand X Liquor, Smart and Final, and Tacos Tijuana.

The cited clerks will face misdemeanor criminal charges and the business owners will face possible administrative charges and fines administered by the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (A.B.C.).  The Murrieta Police Department will continue to conduct future minor decoy operations to discourage the sale/furnishing of alcoholic beverages to minors.
